Sal Island Lemon Sharks Sighting

In this activity, you'll observe the lemon sharks of Sal Island from a close distance. These friendly yellow-skinned sharks are harmless to humans.

Description

Pickup at your hotel in Santa Maria occurs between 2:10 pm and 2:40 pm for the trip to Shark Bay, known for its lemon shark habitat. The sharks are named for their yellowish appearance, which can result from the light on the water. They typically measure between 8 feet and 9 feet (2.5 to 3 meters) in length and are safe for human interaction. During the activity, participants can dip their feet in shallow waters where baby lemon sharks are found. Larger sharks will be observed from a distance. The experience includes learning facts about this shark species. If preferred, you can watch the sharks from the shoreline while relaxing on the sands of Shark Bay. After the experience, return to Santa Maria is scheduled for 4:30 pm.
