Sal Island Lemon Sharks Sighting

In this activity, you'll observe the lemon sharks of Sal Island from a close distance. These friendly yellow-skinned sharks are harmless to humans.

Description

We will pick you up at your hotel in Santa Maria between 2:10 pm and 2:40 pm to go to Shark Bay, known for its lemon sharks. The sharks are named for their yellowish appearance, which can result from light effects in the water. They typically measure between 8 feet and 9 feet (2.5 to 3 meters) long. During this activity, you'll have the opportunity to dip your feet in the shallow waters where baby lemon sharks gather. Adult sharks will be observable from a distance. You will also learn interesting facts about this shark species. If preferred, you can watch the sharks from the shoreline while relaxing and sunbathing on the sands of Shark Bay. After this experience, we will return to Santa Maria, with arrival at your hotel scheduled for 4:30 pm.
