On this nocturnal sea turtle-watching activity on the island of Sal, we will explore a deserted Cape Verde beach to observe turtles nesting at night.
Description
After sunset, we will pick you up from your hotel in Santa Maria and transport you to a beach inhabited by Cape Verde loggerhead turtles, the predominant species on the island. Your guide will assist you in enjoying the experience while respecting the natural environment of these creatures. We will observe the turtles nesting in the sand or heading out to sea.
The walk will be done in small groups to minimize disturbance to the turtles. You will learn about their breeding and reproductive behaviors. Infrared lamps will be provided for nighttime photography, ensuring visibility even in darkness. After the experience, we will return to your hotel, arriving 2 hours post pickup.
