On this nocturnal sea turtle-watching activity on the island of Sal, we will explore a deserted beach to observe these reptiles nesting at night.
Description
At the appointed time after sunset, we will pick you up from your hotel in Santa Maria and take you to a beach that is home to Cape Verde loggerhead turtles, the most common species on the island. Your guide will ensure you enjoy the experience while respecting the natural environment. We will observe the turtles nesting in the sand or heading out to sea. Small group walks along the beach will minimize disturbance to the turtles as they appear on the sand. Infrared lamps will be provided for taking pictures at night. After the experience, we will return to your hotel, arriving approximately 2 hours after pickup.
Schedule Info
This activity starts at 7:30 pm or 9:30 pm, depending on local authorities. Exact times will be communicated on the day of the experience.
Pickup Info
Pickup is included at hotels or tourist apartments in Espargos, Santa Maria, and Murdeira.

The best time to see turtles is usually between May and October, but sightings can vary due to weather conditions and breeding seasons. Silence is required during the turtle watching to avoid disturbing the animals.
