Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet beneath the clock in Plaza Mayor, located in the heart of Salamanca. Once gathered, we will begin our journey through the city.
We will start in Plaza Mayor, known for its beauty, where we will learn about how Salamanca rose to prominence in the Spanish Empire, along with some hidden stories about the square. We will then proceed to Plaza del Corrillo, which reflects Salamanca’s medieval heritage.
Next, we will visit the iconic Casa de las Conchas, a Gothic-style building decorated with carved shells. Close by, we will view the impressive façade of La Clerecía, which houses the Pontifical University of Salamanca.
Continuing, we will arrive at the historic Patio de Escuelas Mayores, home to the University of Salamanca, one of the oldest universities in Europe, where you can spot the famous Frog of Salamanca in the Plateresque façade.
We will explore the Patio de Escuelas Menores and admire the Sky of Salamanca, a ceiling mural of a celestial map. We will then head to Plaza de Juan XXIII, to discuss the origins of the Old Cathedral, and visit the New Cathedral in Plaza de Anaya, an example of Gothic and Baroque architecture.
The tour will last between 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours, concluding at Plaza de Anaya, where the guide will provide recommendations for dining and drinking options in Salamanca.
