Discover Salamanca's rich history on a guided tour of its iconic landmarks such as Plaza Mayor, the Old and New Cathedrals, and one of Europe's oldest Universities.

Tour Details

At the designated time, we will meet beneath the clock in Plaza Mayor. Once together, we will embark on our journey through the city of Salamanca.

We'll begin in Plaza Mayor, known for its beauty, and learn about Salamanca's prominence in the Spanish Empire, along with stories about the square itself. Our next stop will be the nearby Plaza del Corrillo, where the medieval heritage of Salamanca is evident.

We will visit the Casa de las Conchas, adorned with carved shells, and the impressive façade of La Clerecía, now home to the Pontifical University of Salamanca.

As we continue, we will arrive at the historic Patio de Escuelas Mayores, home to the University of Salamanca, one of the oldest in Europe. Here, you’ll learn about its prestigious past and search for the Frog of Salamanca in the Plateresque façade.

We will also explore the Patio de Escuelas Menores and admire the Sky of Salamanca, a ceiling mural depicting a celestial map.

Next, we will head to Plaza de Juan XXIII to discuss the Old Cathedral, a Romanesque masterpiece. Nearby, in Plaza de Anaya, the towering New Cathedral presents a blend of Gothic and Baroque architecture.

After approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours, our tour will conclude at Plaza de Anaya, where the guide will provide recommendations for food and drink to enhance your stay in Salamanca.
