In this bird-watching activity in the Palmas de Cera Sanctuary, we'll see yellow-eared parrots in one of the most famous birding spots in Colombia.

Description

We'll pick you up at your hotel in Salento or Filandia at the indicated time to head towards Pijao, a town located in the heart of the Eje Cafetero of Colombia.

After the road trip, we'll arrive at the main square, where we'll get into a 4x4 vehicle to start the adventure in search of the native birds of the Andean Region. We will arrive at the beginning of a trail that runs through the sanctuary of wax palm trees, the national tree of Colombia. This ascending path will take us through the La Palmera trail, where we'll find different observation points to watch the birds.

You'll see marail guans, Andean eagles, white-tailed hawks, golden-headed quetzals, toucans, and yellow-eared parrots, among other endemic species. We'll take photographs before continuing our hike to a peasant farm for lunch.

After lunch, we'll walk back to where we left the 4x4 and drive back to Pijao. From there, we'll head back to Salento or Filandia, arriving approximately 10 hours after pickup.
