In this bird-watching activity in the Palmas de Cera Sanctuary, we'll see yellow-eared parrots in one of the most famous birding spots in Colombia.
Description
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Salento or Filandia at the indicated time to head towards Pijao, located in the Eje Cafetero of Colombia.
After arriving at the main square, we'll board a 4x4 vehicle to start our search for native birds of the Andean Region. We'll hike along a trail through the sanctuary of wax palm trees, the national tree of Colombia, particularly the La Palmera trail. There are several observation points where we can view birds such as marail guans, Andean eagles, white-tailed hawks, golden-headed quetzals, toucans, and yellow-eared parrots. We will also take time for photographs before proceeding to a peasant farm for lunch.
After lunch, we will return to the 4x4 for the drive back to Pijao and then onward to Salento or Filandia. We expect to arrive about 10 hours after pickup.
Tour without pickup
If you select the option without pickup, please be at the meeting point located at the Plaza Principal in Pijao at 8 am.
