In this bird-watching activity in the Palmas de Cera Sanctuary, we'll see yellow-eared parrots in one of the most famous birding spots in Colombia.
Description
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Salento or Filandia at the indicated time to head towards Pijao, located in the Eje Cafetero of Colombia.
After the road trip, we'll arrive at the main square, where we'll get into a 4x4 vehicle to start the adventure in search of the native birds of the Andean Region.
We'll begin a trail that runs through the sanctuary of wax palm trees, the national tree of Colombia. This ascending path leads along the La Palmera trail, where we'll stop at various observation points to watch birds flying over the palm trees.
You'll see marail guans, Andean eagles, white-tailed hawks, golden-headed quetzals, toucans, and yellow-eared parrots, among other endemic species. Afterwards, we will have lunch at a peasant farm.
After lunch, we'll return to the 4x4 and drive back to Pijao. We will then head back to Salento or Filandia, arriving 10 hours after pickup.
