In this bird-watching activity in the Palmas de Cera Sanctuary, we'll see yellow-eared parrots in one of the most famous birding spots in Colombia.
Description
We will pick you up at your hotel in Salento or Filandia to head to Pijao, located in the Eje Cafetero of Colombia. After the drive, we will reach the main square and board a 4x4 vehicle to start our search for native birds of the Andean Region.
We will arrive at a trail through the sanctuary of wax palm trees, the national tree of Colombia. This path leads us up the La Palmera trail, where we will observe birds near the palm trees.
You may see marail guans, Andean eagles, white-tailed hawks, golden-headed quetzals, toucans, and yellow-eared parrots. We will also take photographs before heading to a peasant farm for lunch.
After lunch, we will return to the 4x4 and drive back to Pijao. We will then return to Salento or Filandia, arriving 10 hours after the pickup.
