Birdwatching Experience in Santa Rita Natural Reserve

Your journey begins with a pick-up from your accommodation in Salento, followed by a 30-minute drive to the Santa Rita Natural Reserve aboard a comfortable minibus. This reserve is celebrated for its diverse bird population, a fact that enhances the excitement of the day ahead.

Upon arrival, you will be treated to a hearty breakfast featuring eggs, arepas, and either chocolate or coffee. This meal will be complemented by a brief overview of the abundant biodiversity that can be found within the Santa Rita Reserve.

Are you eager to spot some unique birds? We will embark on a 1.5 mile (2-3 km) hike. During our trek, we’ll have the chance to observe vibrant birds like the cock-of-the-rock and the multicolored tanager, among others. Our guides will assist you in identifying various species and share fascinating insights into their behaviors.

We will also take the opportunity to visit the breathtaking waterfall of the Santa Rita Reserve, where we’ll discuss the vital connection between birds and their aquatic environment.

After engaging in approximately 4 hours of hiking, you will have 2.5 hours of free time to further explore the reserve. This is your moment to capture stunning photographs by the waterfall, use binoculars to spot more avian wonders, or simply relax and rejuvenate in the natural surroundings.

At the end of this enriching experience, we will return you to your hotel, completing nearly 8 hours of outdoor adventure.
