We'll gather at 6:30 am at Carrera 5 in Salento, where we will board a 4x4 vehicle to commence our journey to the Cerro Morrogacho Reserve. Are you prepared for an unforgettable expedition?
Upon approaching the Cocora Valley, our adventure continues with a four-hour trek towards the reserve. This hiking route will envelop us in the rich vegetation characteristic of the Colombian Andean forest, featuring numerous springs that are vital for the area's water supply.
With some luck, we may spot various representatives of the 31 different bird species that inhabit this region, many of which face the threat of extinction. Our guide will provide insights into their unique traits, helping us identify and understand them better.
As we ascend to an astonishing altitude of 3450 meters (11318 feet), we will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the Cerro Morrogacho Reserve and its remarkable natural surroundings. We've made it to the summit! There will be ample opportunity to capture this incredible panorama of the Cocora Valley in photos.
Following our time at the top, we will begin our descent, pausing in a serene spot for a delightful picnic lunch.
Ultimately, we will conclude our outing by returning to our starting location in Salento around 5 pm.
