Do you want to feel like a real explorer? With this excursion to the Cerro Morrogacho Reserve, you'll discover the lush landscapes of the Colombian Andean forest, admiring the native wildlife.
Cerro Morrogacho Reserve Tour
At 6:30 am we'll meet at Carrera 5 in Salento. There we'll get into a 4x4 vehicle to start the excursion to the Cerro Morrogacho Reserve.
Once we arrive in the vicinity of the Cocora Valley, we'll start a four-hour hike to the Cerro Morrogacho Reserve. Along the route, we'll find ourselves surrounded by the vegetation of the Colombian Andean forest and various springs, which are important for the water supply of the region.
If we're lucky, we'll be able to see different specimens of the 31 species of birds that live in this area, many of them in danger of extinction. The guide will inform us about their characteristics and help us distinguish them.
Upon reaching 3450 metres (11318 feet) above sea level, we'll enjoy views of the Cerro Morrogacho Reserve and its natural environment. We'll have time to take photos to remember the panoramic view of the Cocora Valley.
Afterward, we'll start our descent, stopping for a picnic lunch in a quiet place.
Upon reaching the foot of the valley, we'll conclude the excursion by returning to the starting point in Salento at approximately 5 pm.
