On this 4-day private hiking route from Salento to Ibagué , we will reach the summit of the Nevado del Tolima while exploring Los Nevados National Park.

Nevado del Tolima Volcano Private 4-day Hiking Tour

Day 1: Salento - Cocora Valley

Pickup at your hotel in Salento at 5 am. Travel to Cocora Valley in a 4x4 vehicle and start an 18-kilometre (11 miles) trek. We will cross rocky stretches with Quindio wax palms, moorlands and cloud forests. The day ends at finca La Primavera at an altitude of 1800 metres (5905 feet), where we will spend the night.

Day 2: Cocora Valley - Arenales

After breakfast, start an 8-kilometre (5 miles) hike, gaining up to 790 metres (2592 feet). The climate will become more humid as we ascend. We will arrive at an altitude of 4400 meters (14435 feet), resting at the Arenales campsite.

Day 3: Arenales - Cañon Hot Springs

After breakfast, we will hike to the summit of the Tolima volcano, over 5200 metres (17060 feet). From the summit, views include other volcanoes and the valley of the Magdalena River. We will visit the thermal springs of Cañón for relaxation, camping by the springs.

Day 4: Cañón hot springs - Ibagué

The final day involves 18 kilometres (11 miles) through an alpine route, passing Vancouver and Bombona glacial lakes. We will walk through the Amberes valley to Palomar. At the end, an all-terrain vehicle will transport us to Ibagué, arriving around 5:30 pm.
