Description

At the indicated time, we'll meet at the corner of Carrera 7 and Calle 5, in the centre of Salento. From there we'll walk to the Palma de Cera Ecocultural Centre and learn all of the secrets of Colombia's national tree.

We'll enter the facilities of this garden centre and reveal all of the stages that the wax palm tree goes through from seed to adult tree.

Using a telescope, we'll examine a wax palm tree in detail and discuss the different uses this tree has had since ancient times. We will explain how palm trunks are used in the construction method known as bahareque.

Next, we'll visit a viewpoint to appreciate the importance of the undergrowth for the wax palm tree, including a photo opportunity.

After an hour, we'll conclude the guided tour through the Ecocultural Centre of Palma de Cera, returning to the starting point. At the end, we will provide you with a ticket to enjoy lunch at a nearby restaurant.
