Salento & Cocora Valley Tour
At 9 am, we will meet at the Parroquia Nuestra Señora del Carmen in central Salento. We will take jeeps to the Cocora Valley. During the journey, we will discuss the region's coffee traditions and various plant species.
We will stop at a viewpoint in the mountains for a panoramic view of the Nevados National Park, observing the numerous wax palms. The Cocora Valley is home to Colombia's national tree, and we will share interesting facts about it. While driving through the valley, we will look for flowers and birds around us.
After the valley tour, we will return to Salento for a guided tour of the historic center, starting with a traditional lunch of trout and patacón (twice-fried plantain).
Post-lunch, we will explore the streets of Salento, admiring its colourful façades and floral balconies, which are iconic in the municipality of Quindío. We will discuss Salento's origins and key historical moments. Our final stop will be the Bosque de Palmas to appreciate its natural beauty.
We will conclude the tour at 3 pm in the center of Salento.
