If you want to learn about a critical event in Argentina's War of Independence, this tour of the Battle of Salta is ideal. We'll pass by all the main places linked to the battle!

Tour Highlights

At the appointed time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Salta and start touring the city to discover locations associated with the Battle of Salta, which took place on February 20, 1813. This battle marked the victory of the Army of the North under General Manuel Belgrano over the royalist troops led by Juan Pío Tristán. We'll visit the Portezuelo area, the city's only entrance during the confrontation.

We will proceed to Chachapoyas, where the trails used by the patriot troops resided. Our next stop will be the Castañares Farm, where General Belgrano planned the battle. We will discuss the events leading up to this decisive moment.

Next, we will visit Lomas de Medeiros, where Martina Silva de Gurruchaga led a group of women and gauchos who joined the patriot army. Following this, we'll return to downtown Salta to view the 20 de Febrero Monument and the Monument to Martin Miguel de Güemes, commemorating the general who died in combat during the War of Independence.

Our final stop will be the Nuestra Señora de la Merced church, housing the cross from the Battle of Salta. After this visit, we will return to your hotel, with arrival scheduled 4 hours post-pickup.
