Make your way through the most iconic villages in northern Argentina on this day trip to Iruya!
Description
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Salta to begin our day trip to Iruya, a picturesque village in northern Argentina.
First, we'll visit General Güemes before taking the highway into the province of Jujuy and the Quebrada de Humahuaca, which is the only route to reach Iruya.
We'll stop at several towns, including Purmamarca, Tilcara, and Humahuaca. Photography enthusiasts will find excellent vantage points like Maimará and the intersection of the Tropic of Capricorn.
Next, we'll pass through Iturbe, continuing on a winding road to the Abra del Condor, at an altitude of 4,000 meters (13,123 feet).
We'll then descend 1,220 meters (4,000 feet) to Iruya, cradled amidst the mountains. Founded in 1753, its residents primarily engage in agriculture.
In Iruya, you'll have two hours of free time to enjoy a meal and explore its main attractions, including the town's church and central square. Consider visiting La Cruz and El Condor viewpoints.
After 13 hours of adventure, we'll return you to your hotel in Salta.
