Make your way through the most iconic villages in northern Argentina, tucked in between lush green hills and deep valleys, on this day trip to Iruya!
Description
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Salta to kick off our exciting day trip to Iruya, a picturesque village in northern Argentina.
First, we'll visit the town of General Güemes, setting out on the highway to the province of Jujuy and the Quebrada de Humahuaca, the only route to Iruya.
During our journey, we'll pause at several charming towns, including Purmamarca, Tilcara, and Humahuaca. There will be opportunities for photography at key vantage points, such as Maimará and the intersection of the Tropic of Capricorn.
Next, we'll pass through Iturbe before embarking on a winding road to the Abra del Condor, reaching an altitude of 4,000 meters (13,123 feet).
We will then descend 1,220 meters (4,000 feet) to our destination, Iruya, founded in 1753, with a focus on agriculture.
In Iruya, you'll have two hours of free time to enjoy a meal and explore attractions, including the town's church and central square. Visiting the viewpoints of La Cruz and El Condor is also recommended.
After 13 hours of adventure, we will return you to your hotel in Salta.
