Day Trip to Quebrada del Toro + Santa Rosa de Tastil

On this day trip from Salta, you'll visit Quebrada del Toro and Santa Rosa de Tastil, an important archaeological site in northern Argentina.

Description

At the scheduled time, we will pick you up from your hotel in Salta to begin the day trip to Santa Rosa de Tastil.

The first stop is Campo Quijano, known as the 'door to the Andes.' As we travel to Quebrada del Toro, the mountainous route provides views of colorful hilltops and towering cacti, with many photo opportunities along the way.

We will pass by the Tren a las Nubes viaduct until reaching Quebrada del Toro, where we will enjoy a stunning vista of Salta. After taking in the views, we will proceed to the town of Santa Rosa de Tastil, home to a local indigenous community.

In Santa Rosa de Tastil, we will visit the Tastil ruins, located at 3,200 meters (10,498 feet) above the Calchaquíes Valleys. This site is one of the largest pre-Colombian cities in Argentina. You will have some free time for lunch at local restaurants before we return to Salta, concluding our tour.
