On this excursion to Laguna del Toro, we'll travel to a stunning lake in Salta for a memorable flamingo-watching activity.

Tour Highlights

At the designated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Salta and head west towards a notable lagoon in northern Argentina.

We'll journey through the Andes Mountains, specifically the Quebrada del Toro. This segment includes the route of the Train to the Clouds, allowing us to access the ruins of Tastil, a significant Inca city that once housed 2,000 inhabitants.

We'll explore the archaeological site of the citadel of Santa Rosa de Tastil, its terraces, and museum. Subsequently, we will continue to the Toro Lagoon, situated at over 3000 meters altitude, which is a habitat for numerous species of birds.

On arrival, we will tour along the lagoon's shores for a bird-watching activity of Andean flamingos. These birds are prevalent year-round, with peak visibility from May to September, aligning with the coldest months of the southern hemisphere.

We will also observe other native birds. Depending on the weather, sightings may include ducks, Andean avocets, and guayatas. Following the bird-watching, we'll enjoy a picnic lunch featuring a sandwich, fruit, cake, and two bottles of mineral water.

After replenishing ourselves, we will return to Salta, concluding the excursion after nine hours.
