On this excursion to Laguna del Toro, we will travel to a notable lake in Salta for a flamingo-watching activity.
Tour Highlights
At the designated time, we will pick you up at your hotel in Salta and head west towards one of the lagoons in northern Argentina.
We will travel along the Andes Mountains through the Quebrada del Toro, exploring the Train to the Clouds route, which includes the ruins of Tastil, an ancient Inca city that once housed 2,000 people.
The tour includes a visit to the citadel of Santa Rosa de Tastil, its terraces, and museum. We will continue to the Toro Lagoon, located at over 3000 meters altitude, a habitat for various species of birds.
Upon arrival, we will tour its shores for bird-watching of Andean flamingos, which are present year-round, with peak visibility from May to September during the coldest months of the southern hemisphere.
Additionally, we may observe ducks, Andean avocets, and guayatas depending on weather conditions. Following the excursion, we will have a picnic lunch featuring a sandwich, fruit, cake, and two bottles of mineral water.
After a refreshment break, we will return to Salta, concluding the nine-hour adventure.
