Day Trip to the Toro Lagoon

On this excursion to Laguna del Toro, we will travel to a lake in Salta for a flamingo-watching activity.

Tour Highlights

We will pick you up at your hotel in Salta and head west towards a lagoon in northern Argentina. The journey includes traveling along the Andes Mountains through the Quebrada del Toro. This segment covers the route of the Train to the Clouds and includes a visit to the ruins of Tastil, an ancient Inca city.

We will explore the citadel of Santa Rosa de Tastil, its terraces, and museum. We will then continue to the Toro Lagoon, situated over 3000 meters in altitude, which is home to many species of birds.

Upon arrival, we will tour the lagoon's shores for bird-watching of Andean flamingos. The best sightings occur from May to September. During the tour, we might also see other native birds, such as ducks and Andean avocets. After our observations, we will enjoy a picnic lunch with a sandwich, fruit, cake, and two bottles of mineral water.

Following lunch, we will return to Salta, completing the nine-hour excursion.
