Join us on an excursion to check out the pre-Hispanic art of Argentina. We'll tour the Painted Caves of Guachipas, featuring art created by the native peoples.
Tour Highlights
At the designated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Salta and head south to the Cuevas Pintadas de Guachipas.
Upon arrival, we'll visit the Interpretation Center to learn about the caves' history, where from the 9th to the 15th centuries, local natives created pre-Columbian art. We'll discover the significance of the human and zoomorphic forms depicted.
Next, we'll see the pre-Hispanic paintings located 35 kilometers from Guachipas. The tour includes sights of camelids, condors, felines, and native animals, along with geometric and abstract figures.
We'll proceed to admire striking red, black, and white figures resembling warriors, known as shieldmen. After exploring their meaning, we'll enjoy a picnic lunch consisting of a sandwich, a piece of fruit, a slice of cake, and two bottles of mineral water.
After lunch, we'll return to your hotel in Salta, arriving approximately 12 hours after pickup.
