Join us on an excursion to explore the pre-Hispanic art of Argentina at the Painted Caves of Guachipas, featuring cave wall art by the native people of the region.
Tour Highlights
We will pick you up at your hotel in Salta at the scheduled time and travel south to the Cuevas Pintadas de Guachipas. Our visit will start at the Interpretation Center, where we will learn about the caves' history and the pre-Columbian art created by local peoples from the 9th to 15th centuries.
Next, we will explore the cave paintings located 35 kilometers from Guachipas, viewing depictions of camelids, condors, felines, native animals, and geometric and abstract figures.
We will admire striking red, black, and white figures resembling warriors, known as shieldmen. After exploring, we'll enjoy a picnic lunch including a sandwich, fruit, cake, and two bottles of mineral water.
Following lunch, we will return to your hotel in Salta, arriving approximately 12 hours after pickup.
