Embark on a journey to explore the pre-Hispanic artistry of Argentina! Discover the Painted Caves of Guachipas, where the indigenous peoples of this area left their artistic mark on cave walls.

Tour Highlights

At the agreed hour, we will meet you at your Salta hotel and set off southward towards the impressive Cuevas Pintadas de Guachipas. Prepare for an adventure that takes you back in time!

Upon arrival, our first stop will be the Interpretation Center, where we will delve into the caves' rich history. Between the 9th and 15th centuries, the local native communities painted pre-Columbian artistic expressions. Curious about why they portrayed human figures and animal forms? The answers await!

Following this introduction, we will explore the cave's ancient artistic depictions firsthand, situated on a rocky hill 35 kilometers from Guachipas. As we navigate through the caves, watch for illustrations of camelids, condors, felids, and various native species, along with geometric and abstract designs.

Our visit to the Painted Caves of Guachipas continues as we marvel at fascinating figures in hues of red, black, and white reminiscent of warriors, commonly referred to as shieldmen. After uncovering their significance, we'll enjoy a relaxing picnic lunch, which includes a sandwich, fruit, a slice of cake, and two bottles of mineral water.

Following lunch, we will escort you back to your hotel in Salta, concluding our experience approximately 12 hours after pickup.
