Quebrada de Humahuaca Day Trip
Pickup will be between 6:30 am and 7:10 am from your hotel or designated meeting point, followed by a drive to the picturesque town of Purmamarca, which translates to "city of the desert" in Aymara. The first stop will be the striking Cerro de los Siete Colores, famous for its vibrant colors. We will then enter the province of Jujuy and continue to the stunning Quebrada de Humahuaca.
Next, we will proceed to Maimará, located next to the spectacular natural formation known as Paleta del Pintor ("Palette of the Painter"), where the breathtaking hues offer excellent photo opportunities.
After Maimará, we'll head to Tilcara to learn about an intriguing curse related to the Argentinean Football Team.
Then, we’ll visit the Iglesia de San Francisco de Paula in Uquía, famous for its extraordinary Harquebusier Angels paintings from the Hispanic period. The tour will continue along the Tropic of Capricorn to the iconic Quebrada de Humahuaca, known for its spectacular mountain landscapes.
Lastly, we’ll arrive in Humahuaca, the largest city within the gorge. Here, you can explore the historic center, recognized as a World Heritage Site, and see the magnificent Monument to the Heroes of Independence. You will also have some free time for lunch to savor the delicious gastronomy of Jujuy.
The trip concludes with a return to Salta, expected around 7:30 pm.
Humahuaca + Hornocal Mountains Day Trip
If you are keen on visiting the Hornocal Mountains, this option is perfect for you! We start with a hotel pickup in the early morning, heading north towards Quebrada de Humahuaca, a breathtaking gorge also designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our first stop will be the Cerro de los Siete Colores to enjoy its captivating landscapes.
Afterward, we will visit the renowned mountain formation Paleta del Pintor. Its colorful layers are the reason behind its striking name.
Next, we will explore the historical downtown area of Humahuaca, taking a short break for lunch. Following that, we’ll jump into a 4x4 vehicle to reach the spectacular Hornocal Mountains, where you will witness richly colored mountains showcasing over 14 distinct tones and a variety of minerals!
At the end of the day, we will return to Salta around 7:30 pm.
Hotel Pickup
This tour includes pickup for hotels located within an 8-block radius of the roundabout in downtown Salta. For those staying outside this radius, pickup will be at Calle Belgrano, 550, behind the Salta Cathedral. If the day trip has many passengers, we will meet at this location as it may not be feasible to visit all hotels. If this is the case, the local team will provide advance notification.
