Description
Departure is between 6:30 am and 7:10 am from the center of Salta. The route takes us north through the towns of Yala, Volcán, and Tumbaya, with a stop at a viewpoint in Purmamarca to view the Cerro de los Siete Colores (Hill of the Seven Colors). We continue past the Cuesta del Lipán, Cuesta del Saladillo, and Abra de Porterillos, where wildlife such as vicuñas and llamas can be spotted. The journey ascends to over 13,000 ft above sea level, arriving at the Salinas Grandes salt flats.
You will have 45 minutes of free time to explore the salt deposits. The return trip includes a stop in the historic city center of Purmamarca where local cuisine can be sampled (not included). The tour concludes with a return to Salta, arriving around 7:30 pm.
