Salvador de Bahia African Culture Tour

We'll meet at 2 pm in front of the Cathedral Basilica of San Salvador for a walking tour exploring the influence of African culture in Salvador de Bahia, particularly in the Pelourinho neighborhood.

Our first stop will be the Terreiro de Jesus, where we'll discuss the history of the area's colonization by the Jesuit Missions and Portuguese colonization, along with notable African figures linked to Salvador de Bahia.

Continuing, we will visit the Cross of Sao Francisco, where we will learn about a 19th-century men's organization aimed at assisting the black community in their struggle for liberation. We will also explore key elements of African culture, including samba and capoeira dances.

Finally, we will visit the Escola do Olodum, a center of African descent, to discuss the significance of Carnival in the city.

The guided tour will conclude at the Cross of San Francisco after three hours of exploration.
