Did you know that the first capital city of Brazil was actually Salvador da Bahia? Discover the beautiful monuments and buildings on this tour of its historic centre and the enchanting Barra Lighthouse.
Salvador da Bahia Historic Centre & Barra Lighthouse Tour
Between 6:30 and 8:00 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in central Salvador da Bahia. At 9 am, we'll set off on our tour of the historic centre of a city rich in cultural diversity.
The first stop will be the iconic lighthouse in the Barra neighbourhood, one of the most visited areas in Brazil's original capital. This site is historically significant as the location where the city's independence was declared.
Next, we'll visit Pelourinho, historically an upper-class residential neighborhood and later a site of punishment for slaves during the colonial era. Post-abolition, it transformed into a cultural hub for artists.
In the historic centre, we'll also explore Praça da Sé and the architectural ensemble of Terreiro de Jesus, established by the Jesuits. Additionally, we will see the Church of São Pedro dos Clérigos and the Church of São Domingos Gusmão. We will learn about their historical and cultural significance in Salvador da Bahia.
At 1 pm, we'll return to your hotel and conclude the tour.
