When booking your African Culture Tour in Salvador de Bahía, you can choose from the following itineraries. In both cases, hotel pickup and drop-off, transport, an English-speaking guide, and lunch are included:

Tour with lunch in a favela (6 hours)

After hotel pickup, we will start this African Culture Tour in Salvador de Bahía at the Rio Vermelho promenade. We will visit the sacred altar of the African deity Yemanja, important for local fishermen.

Next, we will stop at Dique do Tororó for photos of African monuments. Then, we will explore the vibrant Feira de São Joaquim market, where we will experience the scents and flavours of Africa and try the renowned acarajé.

Following this, we will visit the Candomblé Sacred Temple to learn about the customs and traditions of the Ewé-fon African religion. Finally, we will have lunch in a favela with local community members. The menu includes a traditional dish with options of fish or prawn stew, fillet of beef, or fried fish, served with rice, beans, and farofa. After lunch, we will return to your hotel.

Tour with feijoada with a local family (7 hours)

If you choose this option, we will start the African Culture Tour in Salvador de Bahía in the Pelourinho neighbourhood, a World Heritage Site.

In this area, we will visit the Afro-Brazilian Museum and learn about the stories of descendants of slaves in the Ferroviario Neighbourhood.

Next, we will explore the Feira de São Joaquim market before visiting the old slave market in Salvador, and continue to the Candomblé Sacred Temple.

Finally, we will travel to the Garcia Neighbourhood, where we will have a lunch of feijoada, a bean stew with beef and pork. After eating, we will return to your hotel.
