Join us to discover the past and the charm of Mozart's city on this guided tour through Salzburg, a World Heritage Site.
Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet at 3 Rainerstraße. From there, we'll head to Kurgurten, a garden next to Mirabell Palace, a baroque building built in the 17th century. We'll enter the ornate gardens, discovering mythological statues and the sets of the 60's musical film The Sound of Music. We'll walk along the Salzach River to the heart of the old town, passing Mozart's residence.
A few steps away, on Getreidegasse, you'll find Mozart's birthplace, now a museum, surrounded by elegant facades and iron signs reminiscent of historic Salzburg. The tour continues to Kollegienkirche, a baroque church designed by Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach, which has hosted operas since the 1970s.
Next, we'll arrive at Residenzplatz, where we will admire the Residenzbrunnen and the Salzburg Cathedral, where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was baptized. This church, rebuilt in the 17th century, is emblematic of the city.
While discussing the history of this square, we'll pass the Mariensäule fountain to reach Domplatz and the sphere on Kapitelplatz. At Kapitelplatz, you'll see a large gold sphere that adds a contemporary touch to the historic setting.
Also at Kapitelplatz, you'll notice the Kapitelschwemme, where horses used to drink, and from there, we'll get a panoramic view of the Hohensalzburg Fortress, one of the oldest fortresses in Central Europe.
Finally, after a 2-hour guided tour, we'll say goodbye at this last point.
