On our Santo Domingo Day Trip from Samaná, we'll explore the oldest European settlement in the Americas with a guided tour of the Dominican Republic's capital.

Santo Domingo Day Trip

Between 7:00 and 8:00 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Samaná for a 3-hour drive to Santo Domingo. We'll begin our guided tour at the Cathedral of Santa María la Menor, the oldest cathedral in the Americas.

Next, we'll visit the Plaza de España and see the Alcázar de Colón, the former residency of Diego Colón. Then, we will proceed to the National Pantheon, where notable figures of the Dominican Republic are buried.

Our tour continues to the Royal Palace (Museum of Royal Houses), recognized as a Cultural Monument of Dominican History. We will conclude the tour at the Columbus Lighthouse, believed to house the remains of Christopher Columbus, and visit the Presidential Palace, noted for its neoclassical architecture.

After the guided tour, we'll have a traditional Dominican lunch at a local restaurant, after which you'll have 1 hour of free time to explore the city further. We'll return to Samaná, finishing the tour between 6:30 and 6:45 pm.

This tour includes hotel pickup from hotels in Terrenas, Cayacoa, and Santa Barbara. There is no pickup service for tourist flats or other accommodations.
