On our Santo Domingo Day Trip from Samaná, we will explore the oldest European settlement in the Americas with a guided tour of the main monuments in the Dominican Republic's capital.

Santo Domingo Day Trip

Between 7:00 and 8:00 am, we will pick you up from your hotel in Samaná and drive to Santo Domingo. After a 3-hour drive, we will begin the guided tour of Santo Domingo. Our first stop is the Cathedral of Santa María la Menor, the oldest cathedral in the Americas.

We will continue to the Plaza de España and visit the Alcázar de Colón, the former residence of Diego Colón. Following this, we will walk to the National Pantheon, where notable figures of the Dominican Republic are interred.

Next, we will visit the Royal Palace (also known as the Museum of Royal Houses), listed among the Cultural Monuments of Dominican History. Our final stops include the Columbus Lighthouse, believed to house the remains of Christopher Columbus, and the neoclassical Presidential Palace.

After the tour, we will enjoy a traditional Dominican lunch at a local restaurant and allow for 1 hour of free time to explore the city. We will return to Samaná, concluding the tour between 6:30 and 6:45 pm.
