Immerse yourself in Thailand's rich cultural, historical and architectural heritage on this day trip to the ancient capital city: Ayutthaya.
Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the National Stadium BTS Station. We will travel to the Bang Pa-In Royal Palace, arriving at 10 am. This former summer residence of the Thai King features remarkable architecture amidst riverside scenery. The golden pagodas and serene pools introduce the region’s history.
Next, we will visit the ruins of Ayutthaya, founded in 1350 as the second capital of the Siamese Kingdom, which was destroyed by the Burmese army in 1767. The city was never rebuilt, leaving behind ancient structures that offer a glimpse into the past, including tree roots growing around scattered Buddha heads.
After exploring, we will have lunch at a local restaurant. You will have time to visit ancient religious sites, including Wat Mahathat, known for a Buddha head nestled between tree roots, Wat Mongkol Borpit, famous for its large seated Buddha, and Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, the most significant complex of the ancient capital.
Finally, we will visit Wat Chaiwatthanaram, recognized for its impressive Thai Buddhist chedi monument, which contributed to Ayutthaya's UNESCO status in 1991. Afterward, we will return to Bangkok.
