Immerse yourself in Thailand's rich cultural, historical, and architectural heritage on this day trip to the ancient capital city: Ayutthaya.
Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet at National Stadium BTS Station. Then we'll travel to the Bang Pa-In Royal Palace in an air-conditioned vehicle, arriving at 10 am. The former Thai King's summer residence features a riverside palace complex with impressive architecture and serene pools, introducing the region’s past.
Next, we'll proceed to the ruins of Ayutthaya, founded in 1350 as the second capital of the Siamese Kingdom. The city was attacked by the Burmese army in 1767, leading to its abandonment and destruction. The remaining ancient structures provide insight into its history, with tree roots growing around scattered Buddha heads enhancing the site's charm.
After exploring, we will have lunch at a local restaurant. You'll have several hours to visit ancient religious sites, including Wat Mahathat and its Buddha head nestled in tree roots, Wat Mongkol Borpit with its large seated Buddha, and Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, the most important complex in the ancient capital.
Lastly, we'll explore Wat Chaiwatthanaram, notable for its towering chedis. This site contributed to Ayutthaya receiving UNESCO status in 1991.
With your camera full of memories, we will return to Bangkok.
