On this private tour of the San Agustín Archaeological Park, we'll explore the history and culture of the world's largest necropolis.

Description

We'll pick you up from your hotel at the indicated time to visit the San Agustín Archaeological Park, a key archaeological site in Colombia.

This tour includes a visit to the Luis Duque Gomez Museum, showcasing statues, tools, and pottery from the necropolis excavations.

Next, we'll explore the Bosque de las Estatuas, a 700-metre-long (2300-foot) gallery with ancient sculptures. We will also visit Mesitas A, B, and C to see funerary monuments, tombs, and renowned sculptures like the Eagle and the Sun God.

Additionally, we will discuss the indigenous peoples' knowledge in architecture, mathematics, and astronomy, along with their philosophy and worldview.

The tour will continue to the Lavapatas fountain, a remarkable example of hydraulic engineering. We'll learn about its significance and then visit Alto de Lavapatas, where a dwelling was found with a hearth and human remains dating back to 3300 BC and other important stone mounds.

Finally, we will return you to your hotel, approximately 4 hours after pickup.
