2-Day or 3-Day Tour of the Ecuadorian Andes

Are you in Quito and interested in exploring the Ecuadorian Andes? On this 2-day or 3-day tour, you'll discover the active volcanos, colorful lagoons, and charming Andean towns!

2-Day Tour

Day 1: Cotopaxi

We will pick you up from your hotel in Quito to head to the Andes along the Panamerican South, stopping for breakfast on the way. We will reach the Cotopaxi National Park, located 62.1 miles (100 kilometers) from Quito, where we will visit the Mariscal Sucre Interpretation Center and the Laguna de Limpiopungo.

We will hike to the Refugio José Rivas at 15958 feet (4864 meters) above sea level, enjoying the views on a 1.5-hour hike. Lunch will be at a nearby hacienda or restaurant before we check into our hotel in Cotopaxi for the afternoon.

Day 2: Quilotoa

After breakfast, we will visit Julián's home to learn about guinea pig breeding and local agriculture and stop in the town of Tigua to visit an art gallery. We will stop at the Tohatchi Lookout for views before reaching the Ilinizas Ecological Reserve where you can choose trails to Quilotoa Lake. Enjoy lunch before returning to Quito, arriving around 7 pm.

3-Day Tour

The 3-day tour follows the same itinerary as the first day and includes a visit to Baños de Agua Santa. You will stay in a hotel in Baños to enjoy the city’s cuisine and thermal pools.

On the third day, after breakfast, we will go on the Mindo waterfall hike via tarabita over the Pastaza River, visit the Pailón del Diablo Waterfall, and the Casa del Árbol. You will have free time for activities and lunch, returning to Quito around 9 pm.

Changes in the Itinerary

The order of activities may vary depending on the month.

One-Night Accommodation

The tour includes a one-night stay in Cotopaxi at Hotel Chuquiragua or Hotel Rondador. The 3-day option includes a night at Hotel Casa Piedra in Baños.

Prices are per person for a double room.

Tour Schedule

The first tour begins at 7 am and returns to Quito at 7 pm (2-day tour) or 9 pm (3-day tour).

Pickup and Drop-off

Hotel pickup and drop-off are included for those within a 0.5-mile (0.80-kilometer) radius of La Carolina, Plaza Foca, or Plaza Grande. Alternative meeting points will be established for hotels outside this area.
