On this day trip to Cotopaxi and the Quilotoa viewpoint, we'll venture into the Ecuadorian highlands to discover one of the highest active volcanoes and an impressive lagoon with turquoise waters atop a volcanic crater.

Day Trip Details

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up in Quito and take the Pan-American Highway South, admiring various ecosystems and landscapes of the Andes during the journey.

After 1.5 hours, our first stop will be Cotopaxi National Park, Ecuador's second most important tourist attraction. Here, you can enjoy a local tea that helps prevent altitude sickness.

As we cross the green páramo of the national park, you'll arrive at the flanks of Cotopaxi Volcano, where you can visit the park's museum and Limpiopungo Lagoon. After a relaxed walk, if weather permits, you can see a forest of chuquiragas, which are native to the Andes and attract local hummingbirds, located over 4,000 m (13,123 ft) above sea level.

Next, we'll head southwest to Quilotoa Volcano. After a short walk to the Quilotoa viewpoint, you'll have a panoramic view of the Quilotoa lagoon, known for its crystal-clear waters.

You will have free time for lunch before returning to Quito, concluding the tour approximately 12 hours after pickup.
