Leave urban Quito behind and lose yourself in Ecuador's natural beauty. Discover Cotopaxi, one of the world's highest active volcanoes, and marvel at the turquoise waters of Quilotoa Lagoon, a volcanic caldera.
Cotopaxi & Quilotoa Volcanoes Excursion
We'll pick you up in Quito at the indicated time and head south on the Pan-American Highway. During the tour, you'll admire the Andes ecosystems and landscapes with an opportunity to drink local tea that prevents altitude sickness. We have devices to measure the pressure to ensure your comfort.
The first stop will be at Cotopaxi National Park, home to one of the world's highest active volcanoes, the second most important tourist attraction in Ecuador. You'll cross the green páramo and arrive at the flanks of Cotopaxi Volcano, where you can visit the park's museum and the Limpiopungo Lagoon. A relaxed walk (if weather permits) will lead you to a forest of chuquiragas, a species of flower native to the Andes, at almost 13,800 feet (4200 m) above sea level.
Afterward, you'll continue southwest to the Quilotoa Volcano, known for its turquoise water-filled caldera formed over 600 years ago. A short hike (weather permitting) will take you to the Quilotoa viewpoint for a panoramic view over Quilotoa Lagoon. You'll have free time to have lunch (not included) before returning to Quito, with an estimated return 12 hours after pickup.
