Embark on an exploration of the stunning Andean forests and intriguing species of mountain birds during your visit to the Yanacocha Reserve just outside Quito.

Yanacocha Reserve Excursion

Your adventure begins with a pick-up from our designated meeting point in Quito at 7 am, followed by a journey towards the esteemed Yanacocha Reserve.

Situated to the north of Quito on the slopes of the Guagua Pichincha Volcano, this remarkable region is renowned for its unique Polylepis forests. Are you curious about the significance of these trees? You'll uncover the answer during the tour!

The rich ecosystems and moist conditions of the Yanacocha Reserve create a haven for numerous high-altitude birds, including the striking masked flowerpiercer and the tororoí rufos. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to witness the largest concentration of hummingbirds in Ecuador, boasting over 50 distinct species!

At lunchtime, a delightful break will await as we stop to savor a snack. This will include a quesadilla (a traditional dish made from corn and cheese), chulips chocos (a beloved Andean treat crafted from toasted grains), and your choice of a soft drink or water. What could be more refreshing in this serene environment?

We will conclude the tour by returning you to the original meeting point in Quito by approximately 1 pm.
