Haggle with the best of them at three of the most popular street markets in Gran Canaria. At Santa Brigida, San Mateo and Teror you will experience first-hand the true vibrancy and colour of the island and its people.

You’ll be tempted by a vast array of products such as fresh fruit and veg, sweets handmade cigars and aloe vera among others. Keep an eye out for such local specialities as Teror spicy sausage and Flor de Guia cheese.

Santa Brigida is lively hillside village famed for its traditional Canarian chequered architecture, with the market renowned for the high quality of its artisan products.

San Mateo nestles in a valley of terraced hills and is famed for its wines, wicker products and knives.

Teror is the largest of the three towns and has been an important centre of pilgrimage ever since the Virgin Mary is believed to have appeared here in what was then a pine forest. A stroll through its beautiful colonial streets lined with multicoloured houses with overhanging wooden balconies is a wonderful experience.
