This boat journey and exploration of El Ceibal from Flores offers a unique opportunity to navigate the La Pasión River while delving into one of the most significant Mayan archaeological sites in Guatemala.

The tour commences with a pickup at 8 am from your hotel or the airport in Flores, followed by a journey to the town of Sayaxché, where a boat awaits to transport us to our destination.

Once on board, we will glide along the La Pasión River towards the Mayan archaeological site of El Ceibal, which boasts origins tracing back to 400 B.C. — a remarkable step back in time!

Upon arrival, we’ll disembark and take a walk parallel to the river, leading us to the archaeological grounds. Here, we will explore various areas, including sectors A, C, and D, the circular pyramid, the zoomorphic altar, and the notable ball game field—a testament to the Mayan enthusiasm for sports!

A standout feature will be the Causeways, which link the different architectural complexes, as we uncover the construction methods employed by the Mayans. Additionally, we will admire El Ceibal's collection of stelae, intricately carved stone shafts adorned with glyphs.

After our exploration of this awe-inspiring historic location, we will make our way back by boat to Sayaxché and then board a bus for our return to Flores, with an expected arrival back at your hotel around 3:30 pm.
