Tour Details
Day 1: Flores - El Tintal
Pickup from your hotel in Flores and transfer to the community of Carmelita, 4 hours away. Meet the guides for the trek, then proceed to the Florica and Uacute campsites for lunch. Continue on the Zacbé road to El Tintal, where we will tour a Maya archaeological site with over 2,000 buildings including three pyramids. Conclude the day with dinner and overnight in tents.
Day 2: El Tintal - El Mirador
Start with breakfast, then hike through the forest along the Mayan road for 23.5 km (14.6 mi). Lunch at the El Zompopero picnic area before visiting the archaeological site of La Muerta. Arrive at the archaeological site of El Mirador, relax at camp, then enjoy dinner.
Day 3: El Mirador
Rise early to climb the El Tigre Pyramid for a sunrise view from 55 m (180 ft). Breakfast at camp followed by exploration of El Mirador, observing ball game fields and astronomical observation points. Lunch at camp, then further exploration of the site, including the frieze of the Hero Twins and the La Danta Pyramid at 72 m (236 ft). Enjoy sunset before dinner and overnight at camp.
Day 4: El Mirador - El Tintal
After breakfast, depart El Mirador for El Tintal, hiking 23.5 km (14.6 mi) with a lunch stop at the Zompopero area. Arrive at El Tintal, rest, and enjoy dinner.
Day 5: El Tintal - Flores
After breakfast, trek 17.5 km (10.8 mi) to Carmelita, say goodbye to guides and have lunch. Return journey to Flores takes about 4 hours, arriving at your hotel around 4 pm.
Accommodation and Meals
This tour includes 4 nights of full board accommodation at campsites in El Tintal and El Mirador. Facilities include tents for two people and shared bathrooms. Meals consist of pasta dishes, meat, chicken, rice, sandwiches, and fruit.
