During this activity, we will enjoy a hike up to Cerro Otto, explore the Berghof refuge, and visit the Casa del Montañés museum, delving into the history of Otto Meiling, the German pioneer who influenced this area.
Description
Meet us at the Tourist Information Office in Civic Center Square to start our mountain adventure from Bariloche.
The adventure begins with a stroll through Bariloche's German Quarter, before entering the Patagonian Forest and embarking on an uphill hike along the slopes of Cerro Otto. As we ascend, we will enjoy views of the surrounding mountains and lakes.
During the hike, we will share stories about the routes taken by the pioneering German mountaineer, Otto Meiling. After approximately two hours of climbing and covering a distance of about 5 kilometers (3.1 miles), we will reach the Berghof refuge. This site, originally his residence, became the first ski center in South America.
We will also visit the Casa del Montañés Museum at the Berghof Lodge to learn about Otto Meiling's rich history and his legacy in Bariloche. Following the museum visit, you will have free time to explore the refuge and have lunch at a local restaurant.
After 4 hours of exploration, we will conclude our tour at the refuge. We can assist you with private transportation for your return to Bariloche.
