On this guided tour of Balboa Park, we will explore one of San Diego's landmarks, stroll through the gardens, appreciate architectural treasures, and learn about their history.
Description
At the scheduled time, we will meet at the designated point and start our walk through Balboa Park. Established in 1868 by Alonzo Horton, who donated 1,400 acres (566 hectares), the park has hosted many significant events throughout its history. Our exploration will cover these key moments and the park's rich heritage.
Our first stop will be the California Tower, created for the Panama-California Exposition of 1915. We will then visit the Alcazar Garden, inspired by Spanish gardens.
Continuing along El Prado, the park's main avenue, we will enjoy unique building facades and Zoro Gardens, the butterfly garden. Our next stop will be the Spanish Village Art Centre, where artists will be at work.
We will take a coffee break in the park before proceeding to the Botanical Building, which was the largest wooden lattice structure globally at the time of the 1915 Exposition.
The tour will conclude at the Plaza de Panama after two hours of sightseeing.
