On this guided tour of Balboa Park, we'll visit one of San Diego's most important landmarks, exploring its gardens, architectural treasures, and historical significance.
Description
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the designated point to begin our walk through Balboa Park. Founded in 1868 by Alonzo Horton, who donated 1,400 acres (566 hectares), the park has hosted many significant events throughout its history. The tour will highlight these key moments and the park's heritage.
Our first stop will be the California Tower, built for the Panama-California Exposition of 1915. Next, we'll visit the Alcazar Garden, inspired by Spanish gardens. Afterward, we will walk along El Prado, enjoying unique building facades and visiting Zoro Gardens, the butterfly garden of Balboa Park. We will then proceed to the Spanish Village Art Centre to observe local artists at work.
After a short coffee break, we'll continue to the Botanical Building, which was the largest wooden lattice structure in the world upon its completion for the 1915 Exposition. We will conclude our guided tour at the Plaza de Panama after two hours of sightseeing.
