On this excursion, we'll visit the Turrialba and Irazú volcanos and stroll around both national parks. These are the highest craters in the country.
Description
In Costa Rica, visiting at least one volcano is essential. The country features imposing craters that create captivating landscapes. We will pick you up from your hotel at the scheduled time and take you on a trip to the Irazú and Turrialba volcanos.
Our first destination is the Irazú Volcano National Park in Cartago. We'll hike around the outskirts of the crater for over an hour. Irazú features five craters and is surrounded by low vegetation, enhancing the mountainous atmosphere. We will climb to the top, and if the day is clear, views of both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans are possible.
After the hike, you will have an hour of free time for lunch at a nearby restaurant. Following lunch, we will proceed to the Turrialba Volcano National Park, known for being one of the most active volcanos in the country.
While we will not ascend to the top of the Turrialba crater, we will explore the outskirts where, weather permitting, you can see several waterfalls formed in its forests, showcasing contrasting landscapes.
The tour lasts approximately 8 to 10 hours, concluding with drop-off at your hotel.
