On this walking route along the Sendero del Capitán, we will explore the history of San Luis Potosí and visit significant sites, including the Cerro de San Pedro, the founding location of the city.

Sendero del Capitán Hiking Tour

At 6:30 am, we will pick you up from your hotel in San Luis Potosí and travel to the outskirts of the city to the starting point of the 'Sendero del Capitán'. This hiking tour will reveal the city’s history.

The hike begins at the Cerro de San Pedro, the former center for gold and silver mining. The trail will take us through diverse landscapes, including meadows, forests, and the semi-desert of Potosí.

We will journey along the Sendero del Capitán to Monte Caldera and arrive at Armadillo de los Infante, noted for being the first location in San Luis Potosí with a printing press. We will walk through cobblestone streets lined with 17th-century buildings.

During the tour, we will discuss the history of Captain Miguel Caldera, who contributed significantly to the region's pacification and colonization. We will also visit a cave featuring an underground world.

After walking 19 kilometers (11 miles), we will reach a ranch for a barbecue-style meal. Afterward, we will return you to your hotel in San Luis Potosí, concluding the activity at 6:30 pm.
