On this hike from San Martín de los Andes, we'll ascend the Colorado Volcano and enjoy views of the Patagonian lakes.

Description

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in San Martín de los Andes and drive to the Colorado Volcano, located 30 minutes away.

Once we arrive at the base, we'll begin a medium-difficulty hiking route lasting 5 hours across an 8.5-kilometre (5.2-mile) trail with an 800-metre (2625-foot) vertical climb.

We'll traverse a Patagonian forest to a rocky area and continue trekking to the summit of the Colorado Volcano, which has an altitude of 1742 metres (5700 feet). The reddish hue of this mountain comes from an ancient lava flow, remnants of which we will observe during our ascent.

From the summit, we'll enjoy views of the south face of the Lanín volcano and the valleys of the Lácar and Lolog lakes. You may take a moment to eat food you have brought while enjoying the panoramic views.

Finally, we'll walk back to the beginning of the trail, where the vehicle will be waiting to return us to San Martín de los Andes. Arrival at your hotel is scheduled for 6 hours after pickup.
