Atotonilco Sanctuary Tour

Do you want to discover the American Sistene Chapel? Join this trip to the Sanctuary of Atonilco, where you'll see how history and architecture mingle in perfect harmony.

Tour Details

At the scheduled time, the group will meet on Calle Relox and head to the Sanctuary of Atonilco. It will take approximately 20 minutes to reach this World Heritage Site.

Once you've arrived at your destination, you'll learn about the temple's beauty and history, dating back to the 18th century, including its connections to the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem and Mexican Independence.

You will also have the opportunity to see the frescos in the popular Mexican baroque style. This temple is nicknamed the American Sistine Chapel.

After the guided tour of about 45 minutes, we'll visit the center of the village of Atotonilco, providing free time to try some local gastronomy if desired.

We will then return to our starting point, arriving 2 hours after the tour begins.
