2016 marked the Bicentennial celebrations of Argentina's Independence, declared in Tucumán. Join our Independence Tour of San Miguel de Tucumán to explore this significant event in Argentina's history.

Argentina Independence Tour

The tour begins at 8:30 AM with a pickup from your hotel in Tucumán. Our first stop is the Miguel Lillo Natural Science Museum (entrance fee not included), where you will learn about the nature and geography of Tucumán through exhibits including dinosaur fossils and native animal exhibits. Next, we will visit the Casa Belgraniana, the former home of General Manuel Belgrano, to discuss the battle of Tucumán and its implications for Argentina's War of Independence.

Following this, we will travel to Ingenio San Pablo to explore its sugar production, followed by visits to Villa Nougués and San Javier Hill, where you will enjoy panoramic views from the Cristo Bendicente statue. The tour includes a stop to taste local empanadas with a glass of wine. We will also explore the residential areas of Yerba Buena and the vicinity of 9 July Park and the Casa Obispo Colombres Sugar Industry Museum.

The tour concludes at the Plaza de la Independencia with a walking tour of its monuments, including the Government House, the Cathedral, and the Casa Histórica, the site where independence was proclaimed on July 9, 1816. The tour ends at 3:30 PM, returning you to your hotel.

The tour includes pickup and drop-off at hotels in central San Miguel de Tucumán. If your accommodation is elsewhere in the city, pickup will be at Ente de Tucumán Turismo, 484 Avenida 24 de Septiembre.
