Tour Development: Journey Through Catamarca
Your experience begins with a pickup from your Tucumán hotel at the designated time, after which we will journey south toward San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca.
Upon our arrival in this charming city of northwestern Argentina, located near the Nevados del Aconquija, the tour will commence. Our first visit will be to the 25 de Mayo Square, where you can take in the majestic exterior of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Valley.
Following this, we will proceed past the San Francisco Church before heading to the Mercado Artesanal, an ideal place to sample traditional sweets from Catamarca. Afterward, you’ll have an hour to relax and have lunch in the vicinity of the market.
Once lunch is complete, we will venture to the outskirts of Catamarca to visit a local carpet manufacturing facility. From there, our journey takes us to the Gruta de la Virgen del Valle, which features one of the province's most renowned sculptures. We will uncover its captivating history upon our arrival.
Finally, we will visit the Monumento a la Zamba del Portezuelo, where you can enjoy sweeping vistas of the region. After taking in the breathtaking sights, we will begin our return trip, with a stop in the town of Aguilares to further delve into its historical background.
The tour will wrap up with a drop-off at your Tucumán hotel, with an estimated return time around 10 hours after the initial pickup.
