Tour Highlights

Your adventure begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Tucumán at the scheduled time, as we travel south towards Santiago del Estero. This city is renowned as one of the earliest settlements in northwestern Argentina and is a key location from the era of the Viceroyalty of La Plata.

Upon arrival in the historic Mother of Cities, we will embark on a guided tour through Santiago del Estero, visiting notable landmarks, starting with the famed Plaza de la Libertad (Liberty Square). Here, you will have the opportunity to admire the cathedral of Nuestra Señora del Carmen and the Cultural Center of the Bicentennial, which was previously the Cabildo.

Next, we will visit the church of Santo Domingo, home to the renowned Holy Shroud, one of the notable religious artifacts of northwestern Argentina. Curious about how this relic made its way to South America? After discussing its fascinating backstory, we will proceed to a local restaurant where you may purchase lunch at your discretion.

Following our meal, we will head to the outskirts of Santiago del Estero to explore the acclaimed patio of Indio Froilán. Here, this skilled luthier will demonstrate the craftsmanship involved in creating his musical instruments, with the bombo legüero (bass drum) being a highlight.

Once the patio visit concludes, we'll begin our return journey. Along the way, we will make a brief stop in Termas de Río Hondo, where we can visit the scenic waterfront, the Central Dam, and the local shopping center.
