In this excursion to Santiago del Estero, we'll explore the Mother of Cities, a key city in northwest Argentina.
Tour Highlights
Your journey begins with a pickup at your hotel in Tucumán, followed by a trip to Santiago del Estero, one of the oldest cities in northwestern Argentina.
Upon arrival, the tour will cover significant sites, including Plaza de la Libertad (Liberty Square), featuring the cathedral of Nuestra Señora del Carmen and the Cultural Center of the Bicentennial, which was formerly the Cabildo.
The next site will be the church of Santo Domingo, which preserves a Holy Shroud, a notable relic in the region. The historical context of the Shroud will be discussed before a stop at a local restaurant for lunch.
Post-lunch, the tour will continue to visit the patio of Indio Froilán, where a luthier will demonstrate the making of musical instruments, including the bombo legüero (bass drum).
After this visit, participants will begin the return journey with a brief stop at Termas de Río Hondo to explore its waterfront, the Central Dam, and a shopping center.
The excursion will conclude back at your hotel in Tucumán, totaling 10 hours.
