In this excursion to Santiago del Estero, we'll get to know the so-called Mother of Cities, one of the main cities in the northwest of Argentina. Its great legacy will surprise you!

Tour Highlights

We'll pick you up at your hotel in Tucumán at the indicated time and head south to Santiago del Estero. This town is one of the oldest cities in northwestern Argentina and one of the most prominent of the former Viceroyalty of La Plata.

Upon arrival, we will start a tour of Santiago del Estero, passing by emblematic places such as the Plaza de la Libertad (Liberty Square), the cathedral of Nuestra Señora del Carmen, and the Cultural Center of the Bicentennial, former Cabildo.

The next stop will be the church of Santo Domingo, which houses a Holy Shroud, a significant relic in northwestern Argentina. After learning about its history, we will visit a restaurant for lunch.

Post-lunch, we will head to the outskirts to visit the patio of Indio Froilán, where a renowned luthier will demonstrate the making of musical instruments, notably the bombo legüero (bass drum).

Our return journey will include a brief stop in Termas de Río Hondo to visit its waterfront, the Central Dam, and the shopping center.

We will conclude the excursion at your hotel in Tucumán after a total of 10 hours.
