In this excursion to Santiago del Estero, we'll explore the so-called Mother of Cities, a significant city in northwestern Argentina.

Tour Highlights

Pick-up will be at your hotel in Tucumán at the scheduled time, followed by a journey south to Santiago del Estero, one of the oldest cities in northwestern Argentina.

Upon arrival, a tour of Santiago del Estero will commence, passing by key sites such as Plaza de la Libertad (Liberty Square), where we will see the cathedral of Nuestra Señora del Carmen and the Cultural Center of the Bicentennial, formerly the Cabildo.

The tour will then proceed to the church of Santo Domingo, which contains a Holy Shroud, a significant relic in northwestern Argentina. After the historical insights, a stop will be made at a restaurant for lunch at your own expense.

Post lunch, we’ll visit the patio of Indio Froilán, where a renowned luthier will demonstrate how he crafts his musical instruments, including the bombo legüero (bass drum).

The return journey will include a brief stop in Termas de Río Hondo to visit the waterfront, Central Dam, and shopping center. The excursion concludes at your hotel in Tucumán, totaling 10 hours.
