Day Trip to Cantona & Alchichica Lagoon

After picking you up at 9 am from your hotel in Cholula, we will take you to the Cantona archaeological site. After approximately a two hour drive, we will reach the first destination of our private day trip.

We will enter what was once a great fortified city and tour its narrow streets, squares, buildings, and dozens of ball game courts, trying to imagine life in this pre-Columbian civilization. The local artisans in Cantona had over 300 obsidian workshops and controlled the trade route of the central highlands.

At the end of our tour of Cantona ruins, we will take you to Tepeyahualco at 1 pm for free time to have lunch, before heading to one of Mexico's most important alkaline lakes.

In just half an hour, we will reach the Alchichica Lagoon, noted for its extraordinary natural structures called stromatolites. We will explore its volcanic formation and learn about the local legends related to the site.

Finally, we will return to Cholula, where you will arrive at your hotel at 5 pm.
