Explore the mythical ruins of a great Mesoamerican civilization on this day trip to the Cantona archaeological site and the Alchichica Lagoon from Cholula.

Day Trip to Cantona & Alchichica Lagoon

After picking you up at 9 am from your hotel in Cholula, we will take you to the Cantona archaeological site. After approximately a two-hour drive, we will reach the first destination of our private day trip.

We'll enter what was once a great fortified city and tour its narrow streets, squares, buildings, and numerous ball game courts. Historically, the local artisans in Cantona operated over 300 obsidian workshops, controlling the trade route of the central highlands.

At the end of our tour of Cantona ruins, we will take you to Tepeyahualco at 1 pm, where you will have free time for lunch. We will then set off for one of the most important alkaline lakes in Mexico.

In just half an hour, we will reach the Alchichica Lagoon, known for its extraordinary natural structures called stromatolites. We will explore its volcanic formation and the local legends surrounding the site.

Finally, we will head back to Cholula, arriving at your hotel at 5 pm.
