Trekking in the Izta-Popo National Park

We will pick you up at 9 am from your hotel in Cholula and travel via minibus to the Izta-Popo Zoquiapan National Park, passing through the Paso de Cortés mountain pass. The hike begins at La Joyita car park at an altitude of 3,900 meters.

The trail, known as the portillos route, spans 4 kilometers and features diverse terrains, including snowy landscapes and coniferous forests. During the hike, it is possible to encounter local wildlife such as coatis, deer, coyotes, and badgers.

As we trek, the iconic volcanoes Iztaccihuatl and Popocatépetl will come into view. Their connection is rooted in legend, which will be shared during the hike.

After four hours, we will return to the starting point and then head back to Cholula, arriving around 5 pm.
