Atacama Salt Flats Tour

The Licancabur Volcano, the salt flats of Aguas Calientes, the salt flats of Quisquiro... This excursion through the Atacama Desert includes visits to these and many other notable sites of the Chilean Altiplano.

Salt Flats Route

We will pick you up at your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama at the specified time. The tour will proceed towards the Andes Mountains, covering a distance of 150 kilometers by bus while enjoying a light breakfast onboard. Observations of local flora and fauna will be made until we reach the Licancabur volcano, which rises over 5,900 meters (19,356 feet).

The cone of this stratovolcano dominates the landscape. We will also explore the Quepiaco wetlands, rich in endemic vegetation, during our tour. We will then travel east for a photo stop at the Monjes de la Pakana, unique geological formations.

At midday, we will pause for lunch, which can either be a main dish and drink en route, or at a restaurant, with two main dish options available.

Following lunch, we will visit the salt flats of Aguas Calientes and Quisquiro, featuring extensive white shores contrasted by the Andean mountains. Our final stop will be Laguna Negra, known for its distinctive color. The tour concludes with our return to San Pedro de Atacama, lasting approximately 7.5-8 hours.

Pickup Info

The tour includes hotel pickup from locations within a 5-kilometer (3.10 miles) radius of the center of San Pedro de Atacama. Alternative pickup arrangements may be available for hotels within 2 kilometers or up to 10 kilometers away, but not for nearby towns like Ayllus, Solor, Cucuter, and Toconao.

For those further from the center, a separate meeting point will be provided in your reservation voucher.
