Atacama Salt Flats Tour

The Licancabur Volcano, the salt flats of Aguas Calientes, the salt flats of Quisquiro... This tour through the Atacama Desert includes various key locations of the Chilean Altiplano.

Salt Flats Route

Participants will be picked up at their hotel in San Pedro de Atacama at the scheduled time. The journey covers 150 kilometers by bus towards the Andes Mountains, traversing the Chilean Altiplano. The tour observes local flora and fauna until reaching the Licancabur volcano, a natural border with Bolivia, standing over 5,900 meters (19,356 feet).

Highlights include the Quepiaco wetlands, located at the base of the volcanic range, and a photo opportunity at the Monjes de la Pakana, wind-eroded geological formations.

A lunch break will be provided; meal options include either a meal en route (main dish and drink) or at a restaurant (choice of two main dishes and a drink).

After lunch, the tour visits the salt flats of Aguas Calientes and Quisquiro, known for their extensive white shores, set against the backdrop of the Andean mountains. A final stop at Laguna Negra is included. The day concludes with a return to San Pedro de Atacama, totaling 7.5-8 hours.

Pickup Info

Pickup is available from hotels within 10 kilometers of the center of San Pedro de Atacama. For locations closer than 2 kilometers or up to 10 kilometers away, previous arrangements are recommended. Note that pick-ups from nearby towns like Ayllus, Solor, Cucuter, and Toconao are excluded.

For accommodations outside the main area, an alternative meeting point will be provided in the reservation voucher.
