Atacama Salt Flats Tour

The Licancabur Volcano, the salt flats of Aguas Calientes, the salt flats of Quisquiro... This excursion through the Atacama Desert will explore these and other notable locations in the Chilean Altiplano.

Salt Flats Route

Pickup will be arranged at your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama at the designated time. We will travel 150 kilometers by bus towards the Andes Mountains, observing local flora and fauna en route until we reach the Licancabur volcano, which stands over 5,900 meters (19,356 feet) high.

We will also visit the Quepiaco wetlands at the foot of the volcanic range. Our journey will include a photo stop at the Monjes de la Pakana, geological formations shaped by erosion.

A lunch break will occur during the tour; options include a main dish and drink on the way or at a restaurant with two main dish options and a drink.

Next, we will visit the salt flats of Aguas Calientes and Quisquiro, characterized by extensive white areas contrasting with the Andes. The final visit will be to Laguna Negra. The tour will conclude with a return to San Pedro de Atacama, approximately 7.5-8 hours later.

Pickup Info

The tour includes pickup from hotels within 10 kilometers of San Pedro de Atacama's center. Closer pickups may be available (maximum 2 kilometers). Nearby towns of Ayllus, Solor, Cucuter, and Toconao are not included.
