Discover the volcanic landscapes of Piedras Rojas (Red Stones) and the Atacama salt flat along with high-altitude lagoons over 4,000 meters (13,000 feet) above sea level.

Piedras Rojas, Atacama Salt Flats & Altiplano Lakes Trip

The tour begins with hotel pickup, followed by breakfast. Our first stop is Toconao, an indigenous village with adobe buildings. You will learn about its history and visit the Church of San Lucas and its bell tower, both 18th-century national monuments.

Weather permitting, we will visit Chaxa Lagoon to see flamingos and hike the Piedras Rojas trail for about an hour, admiring the salt flat and the highland lakes of Miscanti and Miñiques, alongside potential sightings of vicuñas, foxes, and flamingos.

A lunch stop will take place either en route or at a restaurant. The en route lunch includes a main course and a drink, while the restaurant offers a choice of 2 dishes and a drink. After lunch, we will visit Piedras Rojas to see its distinct scarlet landscape. We will also appreciate the emerald waters of the Salar de Aguas Calientes lagoon. Finally, we will return to San Pedro de Atacama with an arrival time between 12-13 hours later.

Pickup

Pickup is included from hotels within 10 kilometers of San Pedro de Atacama's center. Depending on availability, arrangements can be made for hotels within 2 kilometers to 10 kilometers. Please note that pick-ups from Ayllus, Solor, Cucuter, and Toconao are not included. If you reside in remote areas, an alternative meeting point will be provided in your reservation voucher.
