Puritama River Gorge Hiking Tour

We will meet at unit 2, 429B Tocopilla Street in San Pedro de Atacama at the indicated time to travel 45 kilometres (27 miles) by bus to the valley of the Puritama River, located in the Chilean Altiplano.

This riverbed features numerous waterfalls and natural pools, some possessing hydrothermal properties. Erosion has shaped the river basin with high walls forming an impressive canyon.

The hike along the Puritama River gorge lasts half an hour, retracing the paths of the Atacameño people who have utilized these therapeutic waters for centuries. Throughout the hike, we will observe the local flora and fauna characteristic of the Chilean altiplano.

At the end of the hike, a thermal pool with crystalline waters awaits, where you will have two hours of free time to relax.

Afterward, the bus will return us to San Pedro de Atacama, arriving at the small square in the town center 4 hours after departure.
