Rainbow Valley Day Trip

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama and head south towards the foothills of the Cordillera Domeyko mountain range. During the journey, you'll enjoy beautiful desert landscapes and the Andes. Our first stop will be the archaeological site of Yerbas Buenas, where you'll see ancient rock art. Before this, we'll have breakfast. You'll walk through the pre-Colombian site and view petroglyphs carved onto the rocks depicting animals and daily life.

Next, we'll proceed to Rainbow Valley, passing through the town of Matancilla. Upon arrival, you'll see the colourful rocks that give this location its name, formed by minerals in colorful strips. Rainbow Valley features unusual rock formations shaped by wind erosion over millions of years.

Finally, we'll return to San Pedro de Atacama, concluding the tour after approximately 4.5 to 6 hours.

Pickup Info

This activity includes pickup from hotels located within a radius of up to 10 kilometres from the centre of San Pedro de Atacama. Depending on availability, we may pick you up from hotels closer (maximum radius of 2 kilometres) or further away (maximum radius of 10 kilometres). We recommend specifying accommodation in the historic centre of San Pedro. Note that pickups in nearby towns like Ayllus, Solor, Cucuter, and Toconao are not included.

If you are staying in remote locations, you will need to go to an alternative meeting point detailed on your booking voucher.
