Rainbow Valley Day Trip

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama and head south towards the foothills of the Cordillera Domeyko. During the journey, enjoy wonderful desert landscapes and the peaks of the Andes.

Our first stop will be the archaeological site of Yerbas Buenas, where you'll see ancient rock art from various cultures. We'll begin with breakfast before walking through the pre-Colombian site, observing petroglyphs carved onto the rocks depicting animals, daily life, and constellations.

Next, we'll head to Rainbow Valley, passing through the town of Matancilla. Upon arrival, you'll notice the colourful rocks that give this valley its name, with minerals arranged in striking patterns and unusual rock formations shaped by erosion over millions of years.

Finally, we'll return to San Pedro de Atacama, concluding the tour in approximately 4.5 to 6 hours.

Pickup Info

This activity includes pickup from hotels located within a radius of up to 5 kilometres or 3.1 miles from the centre of San Pedro de Atacama. Depending on availability, we may pick you up from hotels within a maximum radius of 2 kilometres (1.2 miles) or as far as 5 kilometres (3.1 miles). Pickups in nearby towns such as Ayllus, Solor, Cucuter, and Toconao are not included.

If you are staying in more remote areas, you will need to go to an alternative meeting point specified on your booking voucher.
