With this day trip to Oxapampa and Chontabamba, you'll learn about the legacy of the Austro-German settlers who arrived in Peru in the 19th century.

Day Trip Details

At the specified time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in San Ramon and travel north to the province of Oxapampa, visiting two main towns.

On the way, we'll stop at the Mezapata viewpoint to view the Paucartambo river bridge, which serves as the natural border between the regions of Junín and Pasco.

Upon arriving in Chontabamba, we will visit the main square and the wooden church, built in Austro-German style, discussing the history of the European settlers in Oxapampa.

We will then head to the Tunqui Cave, known for its stalactites and stalagmites. Following this, we will visit the La Floralp dairy factory to observe the production of milk-derived products such as cheese, butter, and yogurt.

Next, you will have free time in Oxapampa for lunch and to sample local cuisine.

After lunch, we'll take a guided tour of Oxapampa, visiting notable sites including the Plaza de Armas, the Colonists' promenade, and the church of Santa Rosa, exemplifying Austro-German architecture.
