With this excursion to Oxapampa and Chontabamba you'll enjoy the legacy of the Austro-German settlers in Peru.

Oxapampa + Chontabamba Tour

At 8:30 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in San Ramon and head north towards the province of Oxapampa, visiting its two main towns.

We will stop at the Mezapata viewpoint to view the Paucartambo river canyon, the natural border between the regions of Junín and Pasco. We'll also visit a traditional sugar mill from the 19th century.

In Chontabamba, we will see the main square and the wooden church, built in Austro-German style, discussing the history of the European settlers. Next, we will explore the Tunqui Cave, noted for its stalactites and stalagmites, and visit a dairy factory to observe the production of cheese, butter, and yogurt.

We'll proceed to the town of Oxapampa, allowing free time for lunch and to enjoy the local cuisine.

After lunch, we’ll participate in a guided tour of Oxapampa, covering key locations such as the Plaza de Armas, the Colonists' promenade, and the church of Santa Rosa, a wooden structure influenced by Austro-German architecture.

Following the tour, we will return to San Ramón, dropping you off at your hotel around 7 pm.
