Discover Peru's Austro-German heritage with this 2-day tour of Oxampampa and Pozuzo, two of its most famous 19th-century colonies.

Oxapampa + Pozuzo 2 Day Tour

This 2-day tour allows you to explore Peru's Austro-German heritage through Oxampampa and Pozuzo.

Day 1: Oxapampa

We will pick you up at your hotel in San Ramón at 8 am and commence to Oxampampa. First, we will stop at the Mezapata viewpoint for a view of the Paucartambo canyon. Following this, we will visit Chontabamba to see its wooden church built by Austro-German settlers and a handmade mill. Afterward, we'll head to Tunqui Cueva and a dairy factory for a tasting of its products.

In the afternoon, a guided tour of Oxapampa will cover the Plaza de Armas, the Colonists' promenade, and the church of Santa Rosa. You will spend the night in Oxapampa.

Day 2: Pozuzo

After breakfast, we will drive through Yanachanga Chemillen National Park, viewing the Rayantambo and Yulitunqui waterfalls. We will then arrive in Pozuzo, the first Austro-German colony in Peru. This includes tours of wooden churches, the bridge of Emperor Wilhelm I, and the Schafferer Museum.

You will also see the monument to Father Joseph Egg. The tour concludes with a panoramic view of Oxapampa before returning to San Ramón, arriving at your hotel in the evening.
