Oxapampa + Pozuzo 2 Day Tour
This tour allows you to explore Peru's Austro-German heritage through Oxampampa and Pozuzo, notable 19th-century colonies.
Day 1: Oxapampa
Pick-up is at 8 am from your hotel in San Ramón for departure to Oxampampa. First stop is the Mezapata viewpoint for a view of the Paucartambo canyon. Next, visit a handmade mill before continuing to Chontabamba, where you'll see its wooden church. The tour proceeds to Tunqui Cueva and includes a visit to a dairy factory for a product tasting.
In the afternoon, a guided tour in Oxapampa includes the Plaza de Armas, Colonists' promenade, and the church of Santa Rosa, an example of European influence. Overnight stay in Oxapampa.
Day 2: Pozuzo
Following an early breakfast, depart through Yanachanga Chemillen National Park to view waterfalls from the vehicle. Arrive in Pozuzo, the first Austro-German colony in Peru. Tour features include wooden churches and notable sites like the bridge of Emperor Wilhelm I and the Schafferer Museum.
Visit the monument to Father Joseph Egg before concluding the tour with panoramic views of the Oxapampa landscape. Return to the hotel in San Ramon in the evening.
