Merchants' Manor Houses Tour
The tour starts at 11 am next to the Sanlúcar de Barrameda Tourism Office, beginning with a tasting of a glass of Manzanilla.
During the two-hour guided tour, attendees will walk through Sanlúcar's historic centre, exploring the Merchants' Manor Houses built during the 17th and 18th centuries. First is Francisco Gil de Ledesma's House, a wine cellar that belonged to the Honorary Mayor of the city.
The tour continues to the Gómez Barreda House, known for its beautiful baroque façade. Following that, participants will visit the Santo Domingo Convent, home to many religious people awaiting their ships. The next stop is the Casa de Ceballos, a fine example of 18th-century architecture.
Learn about trade operations and merchant wealth near the old Sanluqueña branch of the Casa de la Contratación, which controlled transactions between the New and the Old World. The Sanlúcar "subsidiary" had significant official activity despite its headquarters being in Seville.
The tour will conclude at 1 pm in the Plaza del Cabildo, a renowned tapas area in the heart of Sanlúcar.
