Routes
At the time of booking, you'll have the choice between five different hiking routes. All of them have a duration of four hours, start at 9:00 am and include hotel pickup & return transfer, minibus transportation as well as an English-speaking guide.
Four Lakes
This route features an 8-kilometer walk that begins between the Caldeira Negra and Comprida lagoons, two volcanic lakes. From viewpoints, you can see the Seca and Branca lagoons. You'll encounter species like camellias, lilies, prickly pears, and oleanders, finishing in Fajã Grande and Poço de Bacalhau for a refreshing dip.
Lajedo & Poço Ribeira do Ferreiro
This route begins in the village of Lajedo next to the parish church. It follows a 7.8-kilometer path through green meadows, with insights from your guide about local history, including the RMS Slavonia shipwreck. Visit Poço Ribeira do Ferreiro, known for its waterfalls among the rocks.
Ponta Ruiva & Ponta Delgada
Starting from Ponta Ruiva, this 8.5-kilometer hike leads along the coastline, offering views of steep cliffs and the island of Corvo. You will learn about the landscapes of Flores and visit the Chapel of São João Baptista before concluding at Ponta Delgada.
Ponta Delgada & Fajã Grande
The hike leaves from Ponta Delgada, exploring green valleys and viewpoints to see landmarks such as the Albarnaz Lighthouse and Corvo. After a total of 7.5 kilometers and spotting species like the bullfinch, arrival is at Fajã Grande.
Ponta Ruiva & Santa Cruz de las Flores
Leaving from Ponta Ruiva towards Alagoa, this 8-kilometer route showcases spectacular rock formations and passes through various crop fields, concluding in Santa Cruz de las Flores, a municipality in the north of the island.
